Beer Style: American Pale Ale

Yield: 5 gallons

Description:

Plain and simple Mandarin flavor beer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb Vienna malt (Grouse) 30 min steep
  • 2 lb toasted buckwheat groats 30 min steep
  • 3.3 sorghum syrup (60 min)
  • 1.5 lb raw sugar (60 min)
  • 1 lb coconut palm sugar (60 min)
  • .75 oz Mandarina (45 min)
  • .75 oz Mandarina (15 min)
  • 1 tab whirlfloc (5 min)
  • .75 oz Mandarina (5 min)
  • .75 oz Mandarina (ko WP 10 min)
  • 1 pkg Danstar Bry-97
  • 1 oz Mandarina dry hopped in secondary

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 14 days
Secondary Ferment: 14 days with dry hop addition

Procedure:

Mill and bag grains. Bring 4 gal water to 160 and add grain bag and steep 30 minutes. Rinse grains with enough water to bring kettle volume to 7.5 gal (volume is total including fermentables). Bring kettle to near boil then add fermentables for a 60 min boil. Add hops and finings according to above. Cool, transfer to carboy and add yeast. Dry hop for 14 days in secondary. Keg or bottle and enjoy.
